Oil Theft Allegation: The Fear Of Speaking Out Is A Massive Problem – Comrade Warmate Defends Asari Dokubo

A political, human, and environmental rights activist and executive director of a non-governmental organization, the CONCERNED CITIZENS (C²), Comrade Daboikiabo Z. Warmate, has lampooned those criticizing Alhaji Mujaheed Asari Dokubo, for speaking the truth, describing them as ignorant and enemies of Nigeria.

Recall ICIR Nigeria reported that, a foremost militant and Niger Delta leader, last week was the guest of President Tinubu at the presidential villa after which, he addressed state house correspondence, in which, he allegedly accused the Nigeria military of being 99℅ behind the oil theft and bunkering in the oil-rich Niger Delta region.

If you can recall, the former governor of Rivers state, Barr. Nyesom E. Wike, in 2019, accused the same military. Mr. Wike even went further to allege that, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Jamil Sarhem was promoting oil theft in the region. What did the military do? And why are all these noise makers attacking Asari Dokubo today ask the military. Is it, not the same way they attacked Wike, Comrade Warmate queried?”

“He said, “The Alabo Edi Abali of kalabari kingdom, is one of those few Nigerians, that means well for this country and the President Tinubu administration, and I can confidently tell you that for free without any oita of doubt.”

He said, “the Truth is bitter and it’s only those that are ready to take the bitter pile, that can free their society from the hand of evil people.”

Comrade Warmate, specifically responded to the attack by one of the presidential spokesman of PDP in the 25 February, 2023 election, Mr. Daniel Bwala, “Today Asari Dokubo visited President Tinubu and after the meeting, he went to the press room to address the press in what capacity I do not know. Secondly, he made blanket and outlandish claims without specific examples, facts, or investigative report against the Nigerian army without qualification. This is troubling.”

But in a response, the activist said, “Asari Dokubo, use the press room in the villa in his capacity as Mr. President guest, a Niger Delta leader and a stakeholder in the Nigeria project. If you are asking for specifics, have you asked the military what they have done with the specifics former governor Wike gave them in 2019? Asari Dokubo has given the information, the military should go investigate. I just think Mr. Bwala is just advertising himself for the military to engage him as one of their media persons because there is no sense in what he has said.”

Our reporter gathered from The Sun Nigeria that, The Olowu of Kuta in Osun, Oba Adekunle Makama Tegbosun III, cautioned former militant leader, Asari Dokubo against demoralizing the military fighting to end oil theft in the Niger Delta. The traditional ruler said in a statement issued to newsmen in Osogbo on Saturday, that it was unacceptable for anyone to ridicule the Nigerian military

“But the environmental degradation, economic strangulation, political subjugation, and health hazard the people have been subjected to is acceptable and it’s not demoralizing and ridiculing, right? Comrade Warmate asked.”

He said, “People will seat in their palaces in Nigeria and abroad speaking from an ignorant point of view. So, truth is now a demoralizing or ridiculing factor. I am disappointed at some of the so-called elites. Asari Dokubo deserves to be commended rather than condemned and demonize for his courage. It is the fear to speak the truth that may sink Nigeria.”

He further said, “If you notice, most of the people speaking have only visited or lived in the Niger Delta region on papers and the news media. So all they say is from the ill-informed angle. What Alhaji Asari Dokubo said is from experience. If you have stayed or are staying in the region, you will weep for the people.

Comrade Warmate, however, thanked Asari Dokubo for his boldness and contribution to national development.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, on Thursday accused the General Officer Commanding 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Jamil Sarhem, of oil theft and running an illegal oil bunkering squad.

“The GOC is doing illegal bunkering, which he is using to finance his quest to emerge as the country’s Chief of Army Staff.

“He has his own team that is making money for him through oil bunkering,” Wike said through his Special Assistant on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu.

Wike said that any attempt to appoint the Sarhem as the Chief of Army Staff will spell doom for the nation’s already failing security. He also accused the GOC of compromising security in Rivers State through illegal actions.

“We will have a security meeting and he will release the details to criminals, and the Chief of Army Staff will leave the man here because he is playing their role.

“How will the security of the state be with such a man as the GOC? He will compromise when fighting to reduce crime. They sent us a GOC who destroyed the security architecture of the state,” he said.
