BREAKING: 10th Senate Minority Leadership – Battleline Drawn Between PDP Group and Tambuwal

A vocal and table-shaking group that has thrown a spoke in the wheels of the immediate past Governor of Sokoto State, and Chairman of PDP Governors Forum, Senator  Aminu Waziri Tambuwal’s, plan to ascend to the post of Minority Leadership of the 10th Senate, has reaffirmed its opposition and gave further reasons as to why Senator Tambuwal’s bid should be rejected. The group leader, Comrade Warmate said that no amount of propaganda or threat will deter them from speaking the truth to the ears of the party’s leadership.

Recall that social media has been awash in the past few days with the breaking news of Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal’s rejection as the Minority Leader of the 10th Senate by the Concerned PDP League (CPDPL), which was wildly reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) and almost all sections of the print media.

NAN report highlighted the alleged two key points, the group gave that birthed the capacity and trust deficit between party members, Nigerians, and Sen. A. W. Tambuwal.

Firstly the CPDPL said, “In 2014, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, took the speakership position given to him by our great party and later defected to the All Progressive Congress (APC). Secondly, Rt. Hon. Aminu Tambuwal woefully failed to provide purposeful opposition leadership in his former capacity as the Chairman of the Governors Forum, considering the magnitude of suffering Nigerians were subjected to under President Buhari.”

The CPDPL are standing on their initial position by giving further reasons in a terse statement signed by the Director of Media and Communications, Comrade Rashidat Abubakar, to CitizenNews24, which reads in part.

“We have rejected Sen. A. W. Tambuwal as the Minority Leader of the 10th Senate and he stands rejected.”

We have given two very cogent reasons in our previous statement why, Sen. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, should not and can not be the Minority Leader. And to further buttress our point, we want to say that, it will be against the grain of equity, fairness, justice, and Inclusivity, as well as marginalization against the South West and North Central if, Sen. A. W. Tambuwal, emerged as the Senate Minority Leader. And it will also further polarise the already tense National Working Committee (NWC) and the party.

South-South has already got the House of Representatives Minority Leadership, North-East the Acting National Chairman, Presidential Candidate, House Minority Whip, and PDP Governors Forum Chairman, and the South-East has the Board of Trustees Chairman. The North-West, the Director General of the presidential campaign council and the immediate past chair of the PDP Governor, and the North Central just lost the National Chairman.

So it is the North Central and the South West that are left out in the above equations. Our great party has Senators from those zones that should be considered.

Therefore, we demand that Sen. Tambuwal should withdraw from the race. Recent statements made by some opposition Senators corroborated the fundamental tenets of opposition to Senator Tambul’s bid.

And the CPDPL wants to state unequivocally that, no amount of sponsored propaganda to embellish the truth, attacks, and intimidation will stop us from speaking the truth to our leaders, that is the least we owe our Party and our Nation, Nigeria.
