Rivers Political Wranglings: PDP Group Commends Fubara, Wike for Giving Peace A Chance, But Warns Profiteers

The Concerned PDP League (CPDPL), has commended the Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, and his predecessor, the FCT Minister, Chief Nyesom Wike for accepting to give peace a chance in the ongoing political misunderstanding.

Alhaji Tasiu M. Muhammed, the national secretary of CPDPL stated that the group totally agrees with Minister Wike and Gov. Fubara that, it’s a family affair that can and will be resolved soonest by the leadership of the party and the party governors forum.

However, CPDPL expresses great shock and disappointment at the press release by some Rivers Elders that rather than finding solutions are taking sides in the political impasse. The action of these elders is proof that Rivers State PDP seems to lack elders with independent minds and the capacity to resolve a simple political issue because, rather than engaging both parties and insisting on a peace deal, they are accusing Governor Fubara of bringing the State into disrepute and contempt, and that might be an invitation to hit up the polity.

In a statement issued to Denton Online News in Katsina, Muhammed emphasized that there’s no marriage on this earth without misunderstanding from time to time talkless of a political marriage. But warn crisis merchants that, this misunderstanding should not be exploited for political profiteering.”

He stressed the need for restraint from both sides and that it’s very crucial not to twist the situation to divide the party and the good people of Rivers State who have always voted for the PDP.

Muhammed however, condemns the unholy attempt to impeach the Rivers state governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara, and urges the assembly members involved to tender an unreserved public apology to Gov. Fubara, the good people of Rivers state and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the embarrassment caused or face disciplinary actions. He also condemned and called for the arrest and prosecution of those officers who used water cannons and tear gas on the Rivers State Governor.

He concluded by commending the National Chairman, ambassador Damagum, and his team the PDP Governor’s Forum Chairman and the governor of Bauchi state, Alhaji Bala Muhammed, and his team for promptly stepping in to arrest the situation. And also appealed to all the good people of Rivers State, party faithful in Rivers State, political leaders, royal fathers, mothers, and the youth, to come together and prioritize peace, unity, and dialogue. He emphasized that the future of the state and the party depends on the collective efforts of its citizens members and the party can not afford to lose Rivers state.
