Dokpesi Not APC Mole – PDP Group To Governor Wike

The Concerned PDP League in a swift reaction has vehemently condemned the recent outburst by the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, against one of our Chieftains and media mogul, High Chief Raymond Areilo Dokpesi. Governor Wike was alleged to have said that Dokpesi is an All Progressive Congress (APC) mole in PDP. The Governor was overly emotional to the purported rumor that, PDP Governors traveled to Europe to make their choice of a Presidential and Vice-Presidential candidate.

The group’s reaction was released in a statement and signed by its Leader, Comrade D. Z. Warmate, General Secretary, Alhaji Tasiu Muhammed, Media, and Advocacy director, Rashidat Abubakar while condemning the overbearing statement, urged Governor Wike to restrain himself from making such unnecessary and an unhealthy statement that will not be helpful in uniting the party for electoral victory in 2023.

The group said Governor Wike should not behave as if, he is the only one that loves PDP and wants its progress, and that there are many others who love PDP, one of whom is high Chief Raymond A. Dokpesi, who has also contributed immensely to PDP’s progress with great sacrifice.

“We are most disappointed and saddened and therefore condemned the unworthy  statement credited to Governor Wike alleging that High Chief Raymond A. Dokpesi is an APC Mole in PDP.”

Gov. Wike was quoted to have said, “I have always said to people in PDP, nobody should cause a division among the governors. We are trying as much as we can to build the party back and see that in 2023 PDP takes over governance. But, I have some suspicion that people like Raymond Dokpesi are not really sincere to the Peoples Democratic Party and I think, I’m convinced that Raymond Dokpesi appears to be working for APC.”

“The above statement by the governor of Rivers state is even more divisive than his alleged rumored text message emanating from High Chief Dokpesi.”

“Gov. Wike should not arrogate to himself the title of ‘the sole lover of PDP’ as being suggested by his attitude because there are millions of party patriots and empathizers  who love and wants the progress of the party and High Chief Raymond A. Dokpesi is at the top.”

“We have heard stories in the past of how PDP and other Nigerians traveled to Dubai, Saudi Arabia, USA, London, et al to hold secret meetings and decide the political faith of Nigerians. What’s so special about this particular rumour? Why not just declare that the information alleged to have emanated from High Chief Dokpesi is false and just leave it at that, than going to the extent of calling him an APC mole in PDP?” We urge Gov. Wike to read below, the news as published by Naija News of PDP Governor’s going to Ghana for the same purpose as alleged by high chief Dokpesi.

The Governor has not been alleged to be an APC mole in PDP despite complaints by members and leaders of his overbearing and authoritarian disposition.

It’s also very imperative at this point to appeal to our leaders to work together for the greater interest of the party not minding their choice of candidate for the 2023 Presidency.

The group further said, “We are on the same page with Governor Wike that, Governor Seyi Makinde, who is the only PDP governor in the southwest geopolitical zone, deserves to be consulted as it concerns the forthcoming governorship elections in Osun and Ekiti states”.

However, the group appeals to both leaders who have contributed greatly to the progress of the party to avoid acts and actions that will jeopardize the party’s chances come 2023.

POLITICSPDP Zoning: Tambuwal Refuses To Back Down As Governor Udom Joins Presidential Race

The main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is still a long way from settling differences associated with the zoning of its presidential ticket ahead of the 2023 elections. It was gathered that in a bid to find a solution to the zoning brouhaha, PDP governors had embarked on an unsuccessful trip to neighbouring Ghana.
The retreat in Ghana which was initiated to end the disagreement over the zoning failed to yield desired results as warring parties refused to sheath their swords.
It was gathered that the governors who were split among the North-South divide returned from Accra, the Ghanaian capital yesterday, after failing to reach a consensus during their held between Tuesday and Wednesday.
Governor Aminu Tambuwal, who rejected being the running mate to a Southern candidate, insisted on continuing with his presidential ambition.
It was learnt that Akwa Ibom Governor,  Udom Emmanuel’s interest in the presidential ticket came to the fore at the meeting.
Governors at the meeting, according to sources, are Aminu Tambuwal  (Sokoto), Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Emmanuel Udom (Akwa Ibom), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) and Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa).
“These governors used Diri’s anniversary as a shield to sneak into Ghana for a crucial meeting on zoning in anticipation of the release of timelines for primaries by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),” a source told The Nation.
“At the meeting in Accra, the Southern governors insisted on power shift to the South in 2023.
“From their talks, ex-VP Atiku was ruled out as the party’s candidate in 2023.
“But some of them offered Tambuwal the Vice Presidential slot which he rejected.
“At the end of the day, there was no consensus on any of the presidential aspirants either from the North or the South.
“It was at the meeting that some of them realised that Governor Emmanuel might have shown interest in the presidential race.
“There was mutual suspicion that more PDP governors from the South have presidential aspirations. So, the situation is still dicey in PDP.”
