Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has insisted that most abducted students from Kebbi State are still with bandits.
Bandits abducted students and teachers of the Federal Government College in Birnin-Yauri, Kebbi State, on Thursday in the state.
One of the students abducted from the school was shot dead during a gun duel between soldiers and the abductors.
Commenting on the incident, the Nigerian Army had confirmed that five of the abducted students and two teachers were rescued.
However, Sani urged Nigerians to ignore propaganda regarding the release of the abducted students.
In a tweet, the former lawmaker wrote: “Most of the abducted Kebbi students are still in the hands of bandits; propaganda should be ignored. The children of the poor can’t go to private schools because it’s expensive and they can’t go to public schools because it’s not safe.”
Meanwhile, the state has closed seven schools following the incident.
