Minutes after President Muhammadu Buhari addressed the nation in commemoration of Nigeria’s 61st Independence anniversary, massive anti-government protests erupted and protesters took over the Roads of Abuja.
The police used teargas to dispersed the crowds. The protesters, carrying “Buhari Must Go” placards, are mainly youth activists and blocked the International Airport Roads.
A detachment of police arrived at the scene, removed the roadblock, and hauled tear gas canisters to disperse the protesters.
