COMMUNIQUE ISSUED IN ABUJA AT THE END OF THE EXECUTIVE MEETING OF THE CONCERNED PDP LEAGUE (CPDPL), TITLED, “THE DAMAGUM PLAN ONLY WAY TO RESCUING PDP FROM THE POST ELECTION CRISIS.”

The Concerned PDP League (CPDPL) held its Executive meeting under Comrade Daboikiabo Z. Warmate’s dynamic leadership in Abuja on Saturday 15th July 2023.

At the end of the meeting, the following Communique was issued.

1. The meeting noted with great pain and disappointment the culpability of almost all Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders across the country in the misfortune of our great party and the role played by them in the enthronement of the All Progress Congress (APC), in 2015, 2019 and 2023.

2. The meeting also noted that, rightly or wrongly for egoistic reasons, proof of political strength and worth, disrespect, disregard, and jettisoning of our 2012 and 2017 Constitution as amended, regional, religious, and personal interest, made PDP leaders sold out our great party in 2007, 2015, 2019 and 2023. And that not up to five percent (5%) of them can swear by either the Bible, Quaran, or cutlass, (as one of our party’s witnesses in the governorship election petition tribunal in Ogun state did testify with), to prove that at one time or point or the other, they have not openly or secretly sold out the party.

3. The meeting agreed that the actions and inactions of our leaders have consciously or unconsciously, admissibly or inadmissibly contributed immensely in no small measure to the fall of the once pride of political parties in Africa, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). And it’s high time we urge our leaders to tame their ego, regional, religious, and personal interest, and Silence the Guns (Political bullets and missiles; that’s unnecessary attacks), in the interest of the party and Nigerians.

4. The meeting, however, perused the Acting National Chairman’s plan to address the plethora of challenges bedeviling our great party and considered it as the only viable way presently to rescue and recover the party back. Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum has proposed that almost everyone at one point or the other has hurt the party, with their words, actions, and inaction secretly or openly, so let us all forget the past and come together to start afresh. Just like the South Africa Truth and Reconciliation and Rwanda National Unity and Reconciliation model that was used to enshrine peace and unity in those countries.

5. The meeting was prompted by our firm conviction that, the enthronement of what we call the Damagum Plan (Officially the Rescuing and Recovering of PDP plan), will resuscitate and regenerate our great party to once again live up to the expectations of members and Nigerians. We, therefore, adopt it and urge the National Executive Committee (NEC) and every well-meaning member to adopt it as the pathway or approach to true reconciliation, peace, and unity.

The Damagum Plan is a simple but robust plan of action that can be likened to the Marshall Plan (officially the European Recovery Program (ERP), initiated and enacted in 1948).

6. The meeting standing on the strength of Section 35(1)a; Section 45(2); Section 47(6) and Section 33(5)m of the PDP 2017 constitution as amended, urges the Acting National Chairman to without further delay summon National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting. We also demand that the Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar I. Damagum be elected as the substantive National Chairman by NEC. This is to enable him to execute the Damagum Plan. Because, it’s been over three months and over a month now since Ayu was suspended by his ward executives and the court affirming his suspension, respectively. It took the NEC only 24 hours after the resignation/removal of Dr. Bamanga Tukur to elect the ill-fated Chairmanship of Alhaji Adamu Mua’zu. So, the NEC can replicate that same speed again.

7. The meeting also on the strength of section 33(5)I and 33(10) of the 2017 PDP Constitution as amended, demanded that the NEC called for the submission of a proposal for the amendment of sections that have promoted indiscipline, disunity, et al (gray areas) in the party and convene a Special National Convention on or before the first quarter of 2024 with the primary purpose of amending the constitution and ratifying Amb. U. I. Damagum’s election by the NEC.

8. The meeting frowned at and express its displeasure with the National Deputy Youth Leader (NDYL), Timothy Osadolor’s, uncultured mannerisms, and wonders If, the National Working Committee (NWC) doesn’t have a code of conduct and ethics for its members. He is not a good example for the young members of our great party and is becoming an embarrassment to the NWC. We, therefore, urge the Acting National Chairman to without further delay and excuse put him on check.

9. The meeting reiterate that, as a pressure group, we will continue to put the party leadership and leaders on their toes via objective and constructive criticism, until a desired stand is achieved.
