Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State has given Sallah gift to 3,496 pilgrims from the state currently in Makkah, Saudi Arabia for the 2019 Hajj.
The State Amirul Hajj and the Deputy Governor Manir Muhammad Dan’iya made this known in the city of Muna.
This was revealed in a statement sent to The PUNCH, by Aminu Abdullahi Abubakar, Director of Press to the Deputy Governor.
The statement quoted the Deputy Governor as saying, “His Excellency, the Governor of Sokoto State, Rt.Hon. Aminu Tambuwal has graciously approved a token gift of R200 Saudi Riyals, equivalent of N24,000, to the entire 3,496 pilgrims from Sokoto as Sallah gift to ease their stay in Makka, Saudi Arabia.”
“This is a gesture to reduce some financial responsibilities on the pilgrims who are in need of additional funds to eat and transport themselves to religious sites, as has been the tradition of Sokoto State Government to its pilgrims each year.”
The Amirul Hajj who conveyed Governor Tambuwal’s Sallah message to the pilgrims also enjoined them to pray for harmony, peace and tranquillity in the state and Nigeria.
He said all arrangements are on top gear to commence the airlift of pilgrims back to Nigeria as stipulated by the Nigeria Hajj commission.
