The Federal Government of Nigerian is set to close down Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu.
This was disclosed by the Minister of State for Aviation, Haidi Sirika, at a stakeholders forum in Lagos on Friday.
The Minister said that the airport will be degraded for international operations because the length of the runway is not suitable for international operations.
According to Sirika, the market, television masts, and free trade zone would need to be relocated for the airport to be fit for safe flights.
