An Owerri, Imo State-based accounting firm, Chief Raphael Anyama & Co Chartered Accountants has denied having any dealings with the administration of Chief Emeka Ihedioha.
The firm was alleged, by the state Commissioner for Information, Declan Emelumba, to have received a payment of N245 million for Rural Roads Account without payment vouchers or approvals.
But, reacting to the allegation on behalf of the company, Chief R. O. Anyama, described the allegations as false.
According to him, “Whereas it is not compulsory that we must react to this false publication, we find it necessary to inform the general public, particularly our friends and associates, that the publication is false.
He insisted that during the seven months of Ihedioha’s administration as governor of Imo State, the company never entered into any contractual or financial dealings with the state government.
The company added that already the former special adviser to the governor on local government and chieftaincy affairs, Mayor Eze, had exonerated the company from any financial relationship with the state government.
According to Anyama, “It is a truism that during the seven months of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha’s administration in Imo State, our firm did not enter into any contractual or financial dealings with Imo State government involving payments as claimed in the publication aforementioned.
“We therefore advise the general public to disregard the publication as there was no iota of truth in it.
“Our above position was also confirmed by Hon. Mayor Eze who was the Special Adviser to Former Governor Emeka Ihedioha on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters during the seven months of that administration, as contained in his public statement in reaction to this publication. In his public statement, Mayor Eze stated, without equivocation, that Raphael Anyama & Co Chartered Accountants had no financial relationship with the bureau of local government affairs throughout the seven months of the administration and that no payment of N245m was made to the firm by the bureau during the seven months of the administration for whatever purpose. And that is the truth.”
