Nigerians Are Tired Of Gerontocracy Leadership – Group Slams Showunmi

The Concerned PDP League (CPCPL) as foremost advocate and support group of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has satirically commended Mr. Segun Showunmi, former spokesman to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s Presidential Campaign organisation in the 2019 General Election, for advising PDP Governors and Leaders to resist the temptation for a PDP “Kindergargarten Presidential Candidate and Commander in Chief”.

Comrade Daboikiabo Warmate, National Leader of the Concerned PDP League, issued a statement in Abuja on Friday 21 January 2022, describing Mr Showunmi’s statement as a parody, devoid of the views and yearnings of the rank and file members of the PDP.

Comrade Warmate’s statement was a reaction to the views expressed by Mr Segun Showunmi, in his recent letter to PDP Governors and Leaders, advising them to reject what he described as a “kindergarten President and Commander in Chief” for PDP.

Comrade Warmate reminded Showunmi that, one can be a kindergarten most especially from age 70, in his or her mental and physical capacity, because, at that age, the law of diminishing marginal productivity and dementia may have already kicked in.

Comrade Warmate said that the ongoing vandalisation of the economy, security and societal equanity of our nation by Gerontocracy Buhari APC Adminisration illuminates the fundamental weaknesses in Mr Showumi’s contention. In fact President Buhari said recently on channel live media chat that, truly age is not on his side and it has impeded his ability to deliver dividend of democracy.

According to him Comrade Warmate, “President Buhari has proven Showunmi wrong. As a retired general, former GOC, former minister, and former head of state, that means he had presidential experience before becoming the president of Nigeria right!  Then What is the state of Nigeria Security and economy under such an experience person now? And his principal has never occupied any executive position where the final decision stops on his table.

Speaking on the 2023 presidency zoning, Comrade Warmate said “ the constitution of our party as amended 2017, section 7(3)c has addressed that, and based on that, we have made our position officially known already. And that’s for the south to produce the next president in 2023. It’s left for the south to micro zone it or not but the south must take up the challenge to give Nigerians their best hand. The problem is that, our leader don’t really read the constitution and only speak the truth when it suits their interest and not that they don’t know.

The very bold PDP young stakeholder also agreed in cautioning party leaders against ceding ticket or party structures to the “highest bidder and Dollars.”

Therefore, Mr. Showunmi statement has only succeeded in disqualifying his former Principal from the 2023 presidential race because, PDP can’t afford to present to Nigerians any presidential candidate that’s above 65 years of age.
