The former vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, while speaking to members of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of PDP said, “By the next eight years, I don’t know how many will be left in politics and it may even ultimately lead to the death of the party because people gravitate, particularly in developing countries, towards governments if PDP does not win the 2023 election”.
Also in line with his straw man, the Kano state PDP chapter chairman, Mr. Shahu Sagari’s laughable claims, Sen. Kwankwaso that “as a Pillar, PDP will Die If I Leave the Party”. He made the remarks during an interview on a Channels Television programme, political paradigm.
In a swift reaction, the Concerned PDP League (CPDPL) condemned the above comments by His Excellencies, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and His Sen. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso faulty analysis and ludicrous claims.
The CPDPL leader, Comrade Warmate, while fielding questions from reporters said the statements by Alhaji Atiku and Alhaji kwankwaso are baseless and without foundation. The assertions are indicative of their egotism, insensitivity, and lack of touch with present reality. Comrade Warmate however commended Gov. Tambuwal for his statesman-like comment.
The question is, who will kill the PDP? Is it Atiku’s or kwankwaso’s ambitions? Are there no youths and young stakeholders like us in the PDP? Or Is the former flag bearer suggesting that PDP is made up of gerontocratic members that will retire or die in the next eight years? Comrade Warmate retorted.
Let’s burst their bubbles and political fallacy. And the fact is that His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has decamped twice from PDP to AC and to APC in 2007 and 2014 respectively. His Excellency, Sen. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso once in 2014 to APC. Even some founding fathers, National Chairmen, and other critical Stakeholders have decamped to other parties and some have retired, yet our great party did not die.
It’s pertinent to remind Sen. Kwankwaso and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar that, without them, PDP had significant votes even in their states of Kano and Adamawa in 2007 and 2015, respectively.
PDP has over twenty million youth and there’s no way all of us will leave the party for pecuniary benefits. We will never follow the path of those of our greedy leaders whose self-interest is their guiding principle.
Although, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s statement is an indictment on some PDP leaders who have left the party on greedy grounds for greener pastures to the party in power because members will only do such at the behest of their supposed selfish leaders.
These statements do not portray them as leaders of good conscience and is quite disappointing to say the least. Warmate, however, highly commended His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal for his remark while addressing members of the party at the caucus meeting, Tambuwal said, “In the face of despondency, in the face of hopelessness, there are still rays of hope to turn PDP into the ruling party in Nigeria”.
“On this note, I appeal that we all as leaders and members of this great party bury our differences and work together harmoniously. We must send the right signal to Nigerians, that yes we are united and ready to rescue this country.”
This is how a statesman in a party speaks and we urge the leaders of our great party to heed the advice of the Governor Tambuwal of Sokoto State and Chairman of the PDP governors forum, Comrade Warmate concluded.
