Breaking : FG Okays Establishment Of Eight New Private Universities


Reports reaching Denton Newspaper says the federal government has approved the establishment to eight new private universities. The decision was taken today at the Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking to State House correspondents after the meeting, the Minister of Education, Anthony Onwuka said the approved universities include: Anchor University Ayobo, Lagos; Arthur Jarvis Akpabuyo University Calabar; Cross River; Clifford University Owerinta, Abia State.

Others are Coal City University, Enugu; Crown Hill University Ibadan, Oyo; Kola Daisy University, Ibadan; and Legacy University, Okija, Anambra State.

The report also says the new universities will be menthored by older universities as follow:

Anchor University menthor University of Lagos

Jarvis University menthor University of Calabar

Clifford University menthor University of Agriculture, Umudike.

Coal City University menthor University of Nigeria Nsukka

Legacy University menthor Nnamdi Azikiwe University

Crown Hill  University menthor University of Illorin

Kola Daisy University menthor University of Ibadan

Dominican University menthor University of Ibadan

The universities were given three years provisional license.
