Although I am not holding any brief for his Excellency, the Rt.Hon. Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, but there are times, when it is imperative, even for a bystander to intervene in a situation, in the interest of justice or simply to highlight the facts of the particular case.
The alleged Amaechi tapes being circulated on social media platforms and by some print media in Nigeria, are merely storm in a teacup, and therefore cannot hold water. The statements were in fact made in 2014 and against former President Goodluck Jonathan – Period.
But some insidious, repugnant and obnoxious characters with political axe to grind, decided to misrepresent the tapes to smear and denigrate the integrity of the Rt. Hon. Minister of Transport, with a view to resuscitate the collapsing and flagging phony Atiku’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign.
The deployment of such political gorilla strategy by phony Atiku’s Campaign Organisation, ought to have been well rehearsed and properly executed with no hiccups, encumbrances, myopic oversight and concomitant boomerang effect.
Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi and Rt. Hon. Godswill Akpabio’s successful endeavours to move the South-South States of Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River to the centre of our Nations politics, is undoubtedly, a developing and devastating political nightmare for Governor Wike and phony Atiku’s Peoples Democratic Party’s, roadmap for victory in the coming election.
Governor Nyesom Wike, as militia recruiting sergeant, obviously perceives the cloud of catastrophic defeat hovering around him. His propensity and predilection for violence must be tackled head-on by the security agencies.
The Department for State Security, the Police and the military forces must now ensure that Governor Wike is placed under round the clock surveillance.
